Sault Ste. Marie Airport (YAM)
Sault Ste. Marie Airport (YAM) is located 14.8 kilometer (9.2 mile) west-southwest of the city of Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario in Canada. The airport was opened in 1961 and operated by the Canadian government until 1998, when its control was handed over to the newly formed Sault Ste. Marie Airport Development Corporation (SSMADC) under the terms of the Canada's National Airports Policy.
It has two 6,000-foot runways, one equipped with an instrument landing system and a series of taxiways to carry aircraft to an apron located in front of the terminal building. There are maintenance and clerical staff to carry out the required tasks ensuring a safe and efficient operation.
